According to information from the Nature Centre, the total uptake of CO2 in wetlands is about 100 tons per year.
Ytterbygg has built two new wetlands in the business area Rollsbo Västerhöjd in connection with the expansion of streets and VA in the future business area Rollsbo Västerhöjd. A wetland absorbs nutrients, which reduces eutrophication while creating a perfect habitat for many plants and animals, thereby improving biodiversity. Wetlands also equalize the flow during heavy rains, preventing flooding downstream. They are carbon sinks that bind carbon dioxide for the climate. "When we develop our areas, we want to build in sustainable solutions for the environment and climate, which we believe our future tenants in the area will appreciate," says Mats Berntsson, CEO of Ytterbygg.
